Ball hockey is similar to ice hockey, but no ice and no skating are involved. Students wear tennis shoes and play on a hard surface using a ball instead of a puck. The game is fast-paced, team-oriented, and emphasizes strategy, coordination, and agility.
No experience required. Most students who join have never played hockey before. Through fun games, skill-based challenges, and friendly scrimmages, students build confidence, teamwork, and fundamental hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing, shooting, and positioning. Experienced coaches guide students every step of the way in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Each participant will receive a McVander Hockey t-shirt and wristband. Parents are welcome to preview short videos here to get more information.
Who/Where:
This is a band program put together by Lakeview Elementary for 4th and 5th graders and they've opened it up to Community School. The program will be held at Lakeview Elementary School in their Music Room.
When:
4th Grade Beginning Band - BEFORE SCHOOL (8:00-9:10 am*)
Monday: Whole Band Ensemble
Tuesday: Woodwind & Percussion
Wednesday: Brass
No class: school holidays, Oct 27, Dec 8, Feb 2, and Mar 2
Note: There is an issue with the timing because our 4th grade students would be late for class twice weekly if they attend the full sessions. In previous years, band members were given an exception. But this year, they will be marked tardy because it is not an official Lake Washington School District program. I am still actively looking for a solution/exception. Please email me if you are a 4th Grade parent or younger and are interested in band and would like to help lobby for an exception or find another solution!
When: Monday from 3:45-4:45pm for 8 classes
Dates: September 22 - Nov 10 2025
Cost: New Students: $370 (includes $50 registration which will be donated back to PTSA by Washington Judo and $70 for the fitted uniform)
Returning Students: $250
Where: 10600 NE 68th St Suite D, Kirkland, WA 98033

Judo is an unarmed modern Japanese martial art and has been an Olympic sport since 1964. We will introduce many judo-related activities and exercises to make the program fun for the children.
Parents can also join their kids in for fun!
Note: Please bring a T-Shirt, a Water Bottle and Snacks to each session!
